Calculate a battery invoice discount
Understand exactly how Discount % produces a Net Unit Price on sale and purchase invoices.
Reviewed 9 October 2026
WHERE TO GO
Sale or purchase invoice → Item entry
Step by step
Set the item’s Retail Price in Items, and check the company’s configured tax percentage.
Select the item on an invoice. Its saved brand discount can prefill Discount %.
Enter the required discount and read the recalculated Net Unit Price.
Check the result before choosing Add Item.
If you negotiated a fixed rate, enter Net Unit Price directly instead.
Example
List price Rs 11,800 − 10% discount (Rs 1,180) + 18% of list price (Rs 2,124) = Rs 12,744 per battery. Quantity 2 gives Rs 25,488. The 18% here is an example setting, not a prescribed tax rate.
What to check
- The rounded net unit price multiplied by quantity matches the line amount.
Things to know
- Invoice tax is calculated from the original list price, not the discounted price.
- The Retail Prices Update grid currently uses a different preview calculation. Use the actual invoice calculation when checking an invoice.
