Use the company-wide exception only when you intend to record the missing stock later.

WHERE TO GO

Sale stock warning / Administration → Company → Invoice & stock defaults

Before you begin

  • Administrator approval for enabling the setting.

Step by step

  1. Review the shortage dialog: available quantity, sale quantity and resulting stock.

  2. Check whether a missing purchase should be entered first.

  3. If the business needs a negative sale, an administrator can enable Allow negative stock sales.

  4. Enter Purchase Price if the app has no usable cost history or configured purchase price.

  5. Save the sale, then record the real purchase when it arrives and review the updated cost.

What to check

  • The sale posts with a negative balance where applicable, and later purchases cover the shortage.

Things to know

  • The switch affects the whole company; staff cannot enable it.
  • An uncovered sale can show Purchase Price pending confirmation. Profit may change when stock arrives.
  • Clear remaining negative quantities before switching this option off.
